   Hi There!  If you’re on this page it is because you want to know more about me.  Well, my normal social network blurb is “A Tech guy who crossed over to the dark side twice. Once to management, the second to a Mac. My friends are trying to decide which is worse”

   While that is the somewhat humorous nutshell version, I think you are probably looking for more than that on this page.  I will try to give you “me” in as few words as possible but still answer some of the “burning questions” you may have.

 

    I am a fairly conservative minded 30 40 something guy.  I say “fairly” conservative because I am not traditional in any sense of the typical labels we love to use these days.  I am not a “Red” or “Blue” person.  I am more Purple in my views and outlook.  To many “conservatives” I know I look like a liberal, and to the “liberals” I look like a hard line conservative.  Truthfully, I am both and neither.  Read some of my posts and you will discover I am a more common sense kind of guy than strictly labeled as one or the other. 

   I believe in God, but I respect your views if you do not and I am willing to fight for your right to believe or not believe in anything you wish.  This does not mean I AGREE with you, but I respect your view and only ask for you to return the respect.  I come from a Charismatic, Pentecostal, Holiness background and I currently attend a Presbyterian congregation (Looooong story).  I am very vocal about my beliefs, but I come from the mindset that I won’t just tell you what I believe, but if I really believe, I must SHOW you with what I do. In other words, if I talk the talk, then I’d better walk the walk and do what is needed without trying to make a show of it.  (This is why I will rarely post on my volunteer activities unless I get a really big inspiration to post.  Sounds weird, but…I prefer it this way.)

    I am a techno geek at heart.  I love gadgets, gizmos, science fiction, and comic books.  I have turned into the Apple Fanboy I used to make fun of and I am not ashamed (though I probably should be.)  I have been in the IT world for 20+ years and in management of Help Desks/Support Centers for the last 12 years.  I was ITIL focused before the OGC could spell IT, and I am very involved in the industry.  I try to post regularly on the HDI Blog, go to http://www.thinkhdi.com and click on the Member blog, but with 60 hours at work plus a life, well….

   I am also a social media, Web 2.0 junkie.  I am on Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku, SocialThink, FriendFeed, Plurk, Digg, de.li.cio.us, Reddit, Stumbleupon, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Flickr, Reddit, GoodReads, and so on and so on.  Search for user AndyG or AndyG1128 and you’ll probably find me.  One of these days I’ll settle on one, but I doubt it.  I listen to the Echo Chambers that are the current social app world and i realize this stuff is still YEARS from full real world acceptance.  I try to add a real world view at times, but I mostly just talk.

   Well, so much for being short, but at least you get a bit more of a picture of me and how I think.  If you have a question, simply ask.  I may just respond, you never know….
